2A Is Going For The GOLD
2A is off to a shining start in 2009. Our school theme this year is Going For The GOLD. We were visited by a medal winning Olympian. Students proved their power as the "2A Rings With Wings" ran hundreds of laps in our Jog-a-thon. We met our buddies and found what we had in common while making a Venn diagram!
Last week students acted our Bible stories to expand our understanding of Jesus and the Bible. Our first theme in reading has students laughing over silly stories, making predictions and determining realistic and fantasy events. As writers, students are learning about complete sentences and the steps in the writing process. Students are adding strings of single digit addends together and practicing many problems solving strategies. The young meteorologists of 2A are observing and recording weather. Our Social Studies focus is on different types of communities including urban, sub-urban and rural along with the kind of transportation used in these areas.
Brushing Up On Tooth Care
It was also a treat to have a dentist visit the classroom to teach us about how to brush. We love the new brushes, flossers and tooth timers.
Meet Lucy!
2A students are happy we added Lucy to our class list in 2009. She is a Russian Tortoise that helps us to remember that slow and steady is the path to quality work.
