2A at Saint Joseph School, Seattle

Spring in 2A
Students are considering how they can spread the "good news" of Gospel messages.
Second grade students are learning about the lives of famous Americans as we explore biographies.  This week we are reading about George Washington Carver and our final story in the reader about The School Mural.  This week we are testing math concepts connected to fractions and probability.  We will  end the year by adding and subtracting three digit numbers and beginning multiplication. 2A, 2B and 2C traded  art projects replicating products from India, Ethiopia, El Salvador and the U.S.  These young business people had to pass through customs with their passports to participate in this trade experience.   Second grade students are asked to wear their uniforms as part of their costume. Our In Touch With Art parents helped us create plaster masks and paint them to resemble wooden masks from Africa. These masks circled the altar during the all school prayer service for Outreach Day.   2A created beautiful patterns on these art pieces. We participated in cooperative games with our 6th grade buddies for our end of the year get together.
