Grace McLaughlin
Grace McLaughlin has worked with second grade students for most of her 17 year teaching career. She is a Seattle native and graduate of Gonzaga University in Psychology and Elementary Education. She has recently earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction: Reading through Grand Canyon University. She enjoys the enthusiastic interest second graders take in good books and every topic from weather to world cultures.
Climbing to New Heights
Although Grace enjoys exploring topics with second grade students, she was thrilled to travel through Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam with a St. Joseph's coalition in 2007. Through St. Joseph's Building Bridges program, this group toured temples and markets, along with historical sites and met many interesting people along the way. With St. Joseph's principal, George Hofbauer, the group delivered money collected by the school children for Catholic Relief Services in Southeast Asia.
Bus, Train, Boat, Elephant, Motorbike, Plane...
Our Southeast Asian trip provided many kinds of transportation. We were touring floating markets in the morning and heading up a mountain on motorbike in the afternoon. We crawled through tunnels and marched into a river on the backs of elephants. Grace would be delighted to share details of her adventure with anyone with a glimmer of interest!
