Second Grade Field Trips and Events
2A members show how early loggers used this artifact during our visit to the Museum of History and Industry. Our class will soon visit Pioneer Farms in Ohop, where students will get close to animals
and participate in many chores pioneer children would do. This authentic pioneer farm helps students step back in time to learn about the daily experiences of early Northwest settlers.
Forest Explorers
After investigating creatures from every layer of the rain forest, 2A students observed canopy layer birds in Woodland Park Zoo's Tropical Rain Forest exhibit. Each student is currently studying a particular rain forest creature to learn more about this important ecosystem.
Game Day in 2A
To celebrate a wonderful winter of learning, 2A students spent an afternoon involved in games. Students workd cooperatively to follow game directions and consider what strategies would help them succeed!
Port of Seattle Trade Tour
In the spring our second grade classes tour Odyssey Maritime Museum to learn how we use the Port of Seattle for work and play. An Argosy Boat Tour, sponsored by the Port of Seattle, helps us to learn about international trade by getting closer to container ships, grain terminals and cranes.
Second and Sixth Grade Buddies
In the fall we start getting to know each other with comparing and contrasting Venn diagrams. As the year continues pairs of students can be seen reading, measuring and painting pumpkins. The buddied pictures created their own candy Polar Express train after reading the Christmas Story.
